GERZMO is in early access; we may update these terms as services switch on.
Terms of use
These terms cover the GERZMO website and app, wherever you use them. Section 11 adds terms for New Zealand. If you're in the United States, the US terms also apply.
1. Who we are
GERZMO is operated by Gersmo Automobile.

2. What GERZMO is
- GERZMO is a global platform where owners register a car for use and choose what it can be used for: food pickup, passenger trips, or sharing with another driver. Owners approve every request.
- Registering a car is not putting it up "for rent". One use, sharing with another driver, is treated as a rental by law in some places (including New Zealand), and GERZMO follows those rules for it.
- GERZMO doesn't own the cars, doesn't control cars remotely and doesn't switch on self-driving features.
- GERZMO is not an investment, and doesn't promise any income or earnings.
- GERZMO is not affiliated with Tesla or any carmaker.
3. Early access: every use is not switched on yet
Right now you can register a car and send requests. Every use is not switched on yet, everywhere: no trips run, nothing is booked and no payments are taken. Rules differ by country and city; GERZMO only switches on a use once it is legal where you are and the right insurance is in place. Early access opens first in New Zealand and Austin, Texas. We don't promise that any use will be switched on in any particular place or by any particular date.
4. Registering a car
- You must be 18 or older, and the owner of the car or allowed by the owner to register it.
- The details you give must be accurate, including the number plate (licence plate), country and area.
- GERZMO reviews every registration before it appears in the app, and may decline or remove a registration.
- You choose the uses. Only the uses you tick are ever offered, and you can change them or delete your registration at any time.
- Before any use is switched on for your car, you'll need to meet the requirements where it's kept, such as registration, safety checks, insurance and licences. We'll tell you what they are first.
- Paid use of your car may count as commercial use under your warranty, finance or manufacturer terms. It's up to you to check them.
5. Sending a request
A request is not a booking. During early access, requests are collected only, and no trip will run. You must be 18 or older, and the details you give must be accurate.
6. Fees
GERZMO is free: it takes 0% and charges no listing fee. Owners can show an optional daily price in their local currency, but no payments are taken during early access. If any fee ever applies, we'll say so clearly before it does.
7. Crypto and MetaMask
MetaMask is optional and crypto isn't needed. GERZMO never holds your assets and will never ask for your recovery phrase.
8. Using GERZMO properly
Please don't register cars you aren't allowed to register, give false details, send automated or spam registrations or requests, try to get around our security or rate limits, or interfere with the site. We may remove anything that breaks these terms.
9. Information on the site
Legal notes on the site, including about New Zealand and Texas rules, are general information, not legal, tax or insurance advice. To the extent the law allows, the site and app are provided "as is" during early access.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, GERZMO and Gersmo Automobile aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the early-access site and app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
11. New Zealand terms
- Consumer law: nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986, where they apply.
- Food pickup: not switched on yet. Ordinary cars generally don't need a goods service licence (that applies to vehicles of 6,000 kg or more), but insurance, driver checks and how the service is set up must be sorted first.
- Passenger trips: not switched on yet. Paid passenger trips need a small passenger service licence and drivers with a P endorsement. Driverless paid trips aren't currently permitted without a specific exemption.
- Sharing with another driver: not switched on yet. This is a rental service. It needs a rental service licence, hire insurance, a current Certificate of Fitness (CoF), registration and road user charges (RUC), and a written agreement with the driver.
- Governing law: for users in New Zealand, these terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
12. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect, including number plates, and that your information may be processed outside your country.
13. Changes
Before any use is switched on, we'll publish updated terms and show the new date at the top of this page.
